The Indians hosted the Rattlers at the Palm Springs Aquatics Center to kickoff Rivalry Week. In a closely contested match, the Indians took a small lead into the 4th quarter, but couldn’t maintain it. With 1:30 remaining in the game, Rancho Mirage scored the go-ahead goal and went up 11 – 10. Over the remaining time, both teams utilized time outs and ran plays. With 19 seconds remaining in the game, Palm Springs used their final full time out to setup a play and attempt to force the game to overtime. The well-coached Rattlers played solid defense and were able to stop the Indians. As the clock ran out, Rancho Mirage scored their final goal to seal the victory. While the game was hard-fought and physical, it featured a high level of sportsmanship and respect from both squads. This game embodied what Rivalry Week is all about. The Indians will now prepare for league playoffs and find themselves in a must-win situation in order to qualify for CIF.
